Teacher Assistant - Special Education Private School
United Staffing Solutions, a leader in the staffing industry is representing a well-established, private, K-12 special education school in their search for a Teacher Assistant. This is a direct hire, permanent position for a year-round (12-month) special education program located in Roosevelt Island. Positions starting in July and September.
Salary is $35,000-$40,000 depending on experience. Excellent benefits package included.The schedule is Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays 7:55am-2:40pm, Tuesdays 7:55am-3:30pm and Wednesdays 7:55am-4pm.
Responsibilities of the Teacher Assistant:
- Implementing daily instruction, activities, and behavior strategies
- Supporting students in their school activities
- Teaching skills that are targeted goals for each student with support from the Head/Lead teacher

- NYS Teaching Certificate (Preferred)

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Must have NYS Teaching Assistant Certificate (or certification in progress)
- Minimum of 1-2 years previous experience working with special needs children in a special education setting
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities and other related disorders preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
