Special Education Teacher

Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role requires expertise in various teaching methodologies and the ability to adapt lessons to meet the individual requirements of students with disabilities, including autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs.
Must have LBS1 and PEL licenses.
There are multiple positions available including, K-1 Instructional, 4th Grade, and 1st and 2nd grades.
Pay: $50-55/hr DOE
Schedule: Mon-Fri/35 hours a week
Duties
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique learning profile.
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies to create a positive and structured learning environment.
- Design and adapt curriculum materials that cater to different learning styles and abilities, including literacy education and math.
- Provide speech therapy and behavioral therapy as needed, focusing on communication skills and behavioral health.
- Conduct assessments, including standardized testing, to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to ensure comprehensive support for each student’s educational journey.
- Engage in early intervention strategies for students requiring additional support in their developmental milestones.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior management plans.
- Foster social skills development through group activities and collaborative learning experiences.
Job Requirements
- A degree in Special Education or a related field is required
- Must have valid PEL and LBS1 Licenses
- Proven classroom experience working with children with disabilities, including autism and developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with early childhood education principles, particularly in preschool settings or daycare environments.
- Experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, and utilizing learning technology effectively in the classroom.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Background in behavioral health or behavioral therapy is advantageous.
