United Staffing Solutions, a leader in the healthcare staffing industry, is seeking Registered Nurses for residential work in New York, NY
Pay: $50 DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention in accordance with client policies, the regulations and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies and the standards of the profession. Monitors treatment plan and progress. Conveys techniques to others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Registered Nurse
The duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Residential will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serves as a member of interdisciplinary team and is responsible for coordinating and following through on provisions of health care services for assigned residences.
- Conducts training for staff in medical administration, personal hygiene, basic first aid, dental hygiene, infection control, adaptive equipment, vital signs, signs and symptoms of illness and other in-services as may be necessary to meet needs of individuals in each residence.
- Handles control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessment, reporting to consulting physician and implementation of appropriate protective and preventive measures and staff training in regard to infection control.
- Develops, supervises implementation of, reviews and revises each resident’s written health care plan that is developed and implemented according to instructions of a physician and assessment. This plan should be reviewed and revised as needed.
- Integrates therapeutic intervention techniques into programs or home of person served through consultation with parent/guardian and staff at team meetings, case conferences or through other informal contacts.
- Develops a written plan for each resident to provide nursing services as a part of total habilitation programs.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews as required by each division.
- Monitors required staff health records and provides tests in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.
- Provides immediate first aid with referral to outside emergency services or private physician.
- Maintains a tickler for all appointments. Schedules appointments and follows up on physicians’ recommendations. Makes recommendations as changes occur.
- Keeps up to date and accurate records of examinations, immunizations, illnesses, accidents and other pertinent data via progress notes.
- Administers medications when appropriate, and supervises AMAP certified staff in medication administration. Supervises all medication prescribed for individuals in accordance with agency policies.
- Provides supervision and training for Licensed Practical Nurses and/or less experienced Registered Nurses during their tenure at agency.
- Monitors progress for self-administration of medication.
- Obtains consents for surgery of residents.
- Reviews all diagnostic work and consults.
- Remains on call for all emergencies.
- Transports individuals to appointments as necessary.
- Attends team meetings as scheduled.
- Attends to individuals’ medical conditions and quarterly examinations as indicated.
- Keeps abreast of changes in Nursing field.
- Participates in medical reviews for individuals.
- Carries beeper and is on-call, responds to questions regarding physician treatment plans.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Job Requirements
- Valid New York State Driver’s License is preferred
- License and current registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
- CPR
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, individuals, families and outside contacts
- Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality
- Knowledge of equipment typically used by persons receiving services, including wheelchairs and adaptive devices.
- Must be willing to work at various program sites
Education and/or Experience needed:
- Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing
- At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in the delivery of community-based health services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Language Skills needed for the Registered Nurse:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries, concerns or complaints from employees and customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
