Occupational Therapist - OT - Special Education Private School
United Staffing Solutions, a leader in staffing, is representing a growing Private School seeking an Occupational Therapist. This is a direct hire/permanent position for a full-year-round/12-month school program.
The position is located conveniently in Lower Manhattan near many subway lines.
Salary is $75,000-$95,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities for the Occupational Therapist / OT:
- Conducting formal assessments of each child as well as ongoing informal assessments in the classroom and conferring and collaborating with teachers and other paraprofessionals.
- Interpreting assessments in order to determine level of functioning and needs of each child
- Utilizing a variety of activities to meet students’ needs as determined by your informal and formal assessments
- Maintaining communication with classroom teachers and parents about progress of the students
- Attending regular team meetings prepared with information about the relevant students.
- Developing Progress Reports on each student in conjunction with classroom teachers and other team members; preparing documents, when necessary, for CSE and CE meetings and, if applicable, impartial hearings
- Collecting and assessing student homework using portfolio guidelines and assessments
- Creating ongoing plans consistent with Progress Report goals for each child
- Maintaining records of each session and narrative logs for each child; monthly summative reporting is required and will inform all progress reporting.
- Ensuring that regular sessions and any needed make-up sessions attain the mandated goals
Job Requirements
- Valid and current License and/or Certification to practice in New York State
- Ability to provide your National Provider Identification (NPI) number
- Experience working in a school environment is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
