Lighting Assistant

Job Description
United Staffing Soulutions is representing a prestigious events company in Manhattan, NY and is looking for Lighting Assistants (L2) to join their team. This events company does various events from graduations, weddings, concerts, and other events throughout the city.
We are looking for Lighting Assistants to help the team set up and take down basic lighting and wiring. This is a event based position and shifts vary depending event needs.
Pay: $20-22/hr Depending on Experience
Schedule: Varies depending on event, nights/weekends likely needed.
Responsibilities:
- Pull, test, and pack fixtures, dimmers/power distros, truss, cable, and control gear per lighting plots.
- Address, label, and patch fixtures (DMX, Art-Net, sACN).
- Assist with rigging truss, hanging fixtures, cabling, focusing, and color correction.
- Follow power-up and line-check procedures; verify signal integrity and troubleshoot faults.
- Support board operator with cue programming, fixture swaps, and emergency fixes during shows.
- Maintain a safe, tidy work area and adhere to all OSHA and company safety guidelines.
- Break down and pack gear efficiently, complete damage reports, and restock inventory.
- Perform basic maintenance (lamp changes, lens cleaning, firmware updates).
Job Requirements
- 1–3 years’ experience on professional lighting crews (theater, concerts, or corporate A/V).
- Familiarity with moving-light maintenance, LED fixtures, and common consoles (MA, ETC, Avolites).
- Comfortable working at heights and lifting 50 lbs+; able to stand for long shifts.
- Basic understanding of single- and three-phase power and safe rigging practices.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel throughout the tri-state area and work nights/weekends/holidays.
- OSHA 10 and ETCP certification a plus.
