United Staffing Solutions is representing a highly respected special education school in Huntington, NY who is looking for an experienced Maintenance/Groundskeeper to join their team.

The school Maintenance/Groundskeeper will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the school grounds and will report to the Head of Maintenance.

Pay: $20/hr

Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm, occasional OT before/after school hours as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain physical appearance and safety of school grounds including: Cutting the grass, Weeding, Mulching, Leaf clean up, Keeping the grounds clear of branches and other hazards, Maintaining all flower beds,Maintain Turf (Aerating, Seeding, Fertilizing Watering)
• Preventative and scheduled maintenance of all landscaping machinery
• Maintain, clean and organize all maintenance storage areas and tools.
• Secure maintenance containers & make sure all cleaners and or chemicals are following the hazcom policy standards
• Walk grounds daily, remove any safety hazards, put away any equipment left out (tools, machinery, sporting good, toys, etc.)
• Notify Director of Facilities Immediately, of any broken equipment, fencing, trees, damage and or hazardous conditions on the grounds.
• Shovel/snow blow and salt all walkways, entrances and parking lot
• Move/assist moving furniture as needed
• Perform light duty repairs and cleaning
• Oversee and delegate work to seasonal staff
• Perform Monthly Emergency lighting test
• Perform Monthly fish tank cleaning
• Change HVAC Filters as scheduled

• 2+ years experience working in landscaping/maintenance
• Prior experience working in a school setting preferred
• Bilingual- Spanish/English
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have valid Driver's License
• Ability to operate any and all landscaping machinery
• Ability to do heavy lifting (50+lbs)
• Able to work outdoors in various conditions as needed
• Proper work attire
