College Counselor – College Advisor
United Staffing Solutions a leader in the staffing industry is seeking a High School College Counselor for one of New York’s most successful charter schools. A strong believer in a college education, this role requires a results-driven individual who can work with students, teachers and families to navigate the process and make the right decision for each student.
Salary: $58,000 - $85,000 Depending on Experience

Location: Midtown Manhattan
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE COLLEGE COUNSELOR:
- Work closely with faculty, scholars, and parents on a daily basis..
- Ability to match appropriate colleges to each individual student academically and via financial aid programs.
- Adhere to the vision of college access and preparedness.
- Effectively manage to create a productive environment for seniors to independently drive their college applications forward
- Develop curated college lists with scholars, based on their academics, preparedness skills, and family's financial background
- Write high-quality letters of recommendation
- Review financial documents (W-2s, 1040s, and others) and financial aid award letters to strategically advise seniors through the financial aid process
- Build strong working relationships with college admissions officers
- Lead scholar and parent workshops, and share knowledge on the college admissions and financial aid processes
Job Requirements
- A firm believer in expanding college access and graduation for low-income, first-generation, and/or underrepresented scholars
- Excellent communication in written and verbal contexts
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a related position
- Bachelor’s Degree in related subject
- Ability to form strong relationships with a wide range of constituents
- Have a strong understanding of the college admissions process, with an emphasis on the highly selective institutions and programs that meet full financial need
- Navigate the complex financial aid application process
