Purchasing Associate - Purchasing Assistant - Purchasing Specialist

United Staffing Solutions, a leader in staffing, is representing a well-known family-owned food manufacturing company seeking an experienced Purchasing Associate to join their team and report to the Director of Purchasing. This is a direct hire/permanent position with full benefits after a probationary period.

The position is conveniently located in East New York Brooklyn, an easy commute from Queens, Brooklyn, or Nassau County. Private employee parking lot is available on-site. The schedule is Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm. Salary is $60,000-$75,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities for the Purchasing Associate:

  • Reviewing inventory levels of raw material items and plan replenishment as needed.
  • Forecasting raw material needs and keep proper inventory levels and flow of needed materials.
  • Placing Navision purchase orders from approved vendors as needed.
  • Reviewing the status of open purchase orders to confirm ship dates and communicate any potential delays that could affect the production of our products.
  • Controlling and reviewing non-system items (plastic bags, glues, tapes, etc.).
  • Taking inventory of non-system items in the warehouse regularly.
  • Placing non-system purchase orders.
  • Directing and managing the paperwork flow of one or more of our outside co-packers.
  • Receiving paperwork of blends at all outside warehouses.
  • Processing receiving paperwork (with an internal check by the Director of Purchasing).
  • Scanning, e-mailing, and filing daily production verification reports and receiving edits.
  • Entering daily bulk stix schedule and any blending schedules from the lab via Navision.
  • Managing outside warehouse(s) inventory levels and paperwork.
  • Helping review and update the current purchasing registers and purchasing SQF documentation.
  • Overseeing the monthly inventory reconciliation. Managing part of the monthly physical inventory process.
  • Managing new label development and existing label changes for all private label accounts.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, supply chain management, or a similar field preferred.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience working as a Purchasing Specialist or similar role
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is a must.
  • Knowledge of Navision or QuickBooks is a plus, not a must
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a team-player.
